Hippalus Technologies, software consulting and development company located in Kansas, US currently develops Public Health Social Platform which is first of its nature for Public Health community users like Public Health Agencies, Association and Professionals.
Public health entities face technical data aggregation and analytics challenges like Health care providers, including fragmented data sources, poor interoperability, and difficulty developing algorithms that can accurately predict and prepare stakeholders for a rapid response to disease hot spots.
Numerous data sets are available for public consumption from different Public Health agency websites. Health IT developers can take advantage of application programming interface (API) option to create new tools for analyzing and leveraging the data or they can build Public Health Platform using their own toolsets. Hippalus Technology technical consultants spent years in designing and developing a software platform to connect and share Public Health data among its stakeholders. This new platform is called “HealthIntics” (Health Intelligent Analytics).
Hippalus consultants face many challenges in building this platform but they successfully overcome them. Here are some of the challenges that they faced :
CAPTURE
All data comes from open source data in different formats. Capturing data that is clean, complete, accurate, and formatted correctly for use in multiple systems is an ongoing battle for Hippalus Tech. many of which aren’t on the winning side of the conflict. But Hippalus consultants are able to successfully capture the data to the formats that they want.
CLEANING
Dirty data can quickly derail a data analytics project, especially when bringing together disparate data sources that may record clinical or operational elements in slightly different formats. Data cleaning – also known as cleansing or scrubbing – ensures that datasets are accurate, correct, consistent, relevant, and not corrupted in any way.
STORAGE
As the volume of healthcare data grows exponentially,it is hard to manage the data and store them in the format that is needed. Cloud storage is becoming an increasingly popular option as costs drop and reliability grows. Hippalus Tech uses Microsoft Azure for storage.
QUERYING & REPORTING
The ability to query data is foundational for reporting and analytics. Hippalus Tech uses Structured Query Language (SQL) to dive into large datasets and relational databases. Hippalus uses Bigdata analytics tools Databricks, RStudio and Python for querying and reporting purposes.
VISUALIZATION
While using the system, a clean and engaging data visualization can make it much easier for Public Health professionals to absorb information and use it appropriately. Hippalus uses PowerBI and RStudio for visualization.
HealthIntics will be released for user community review in Jan 2021. More details can be seen at the video
